I get the concept, and it is a cute enough video, but I have to admit it took me a couple watches to really understand what was going on. The idea is fine, but it is pretty thin and could do with some embellishment and clearer execution. I quite liked the animation for the most part, a bit sloppy, but some obvious talent there. Unfortunately, I think it goes without saying that the music was truly hideous. It grated and sounded carelessly edited and there's no need for something so simple to drag down your video. There's plenty of great creative commons music out there that could've been used in lieu of it.

Good luck to you in your future work.

Thanks for the tips. I will keep those in mind, so i may bring better videos :)

Yet another game grumps parody and yet another unfunny video where something that may have been funny to begin with, has been taken out of context, and is now unfunny, which is basically the opposite of what you're meant to do with a parody.

FleetAdmiralTony responds:

that's nice dear. ;)

This is the kind of video that's probably going to get down-rated for its subject matter, or maybe people who don't quite get some of the more British humour, but I genuinely chuckled at a few parts. Kudos to you guys for making an effort to actually produce something with characters, a universe, that reigns in the pop references and isn't just a lazy one joke parody skit. The voice acting was great.

But I do personally have mixed feelings on this video. The basic premise is funny, and there were some obvious, but funny observations about how paranoid and frankly absurd people can be about Muslims, mosques and whatnot. But I feel the tone shifted, and it strayed away from being absurd, the mundane and ridiculous things small-minded people say and do when it comes to this subject, which was chuckle-some, and just became a little mean-spirited, even if meant in a good way. The parallel between terrorists and the people who don't like mosques being built near them was incredibly strained, and the ending was quite slow to get to. I liked the interaction between the two main characters, and I think if it focussed more on that without the explicit stuff at the end, where things were spelt out too much, it would've been funnier. I also found the 'homo' joke was lacking the required dosage of irony to make it palatable, and as a result felt a little cheap and unneeded. Also, while I personally think religious opposition to eating one particular kind of meat *is* absurd, I do feel as it was executed here, it came off a bit ill-considered.

I really want to see more from you guys because I think the ingredients are there for something really funny. This would've been great trimmed a bit, tetchy jokes executed with a bit more consideration, and less focus on the specifics. These are the kind of videos I personally love to see and are all too rare: characters, a universe, some ambition and a sense of style.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make such a well thought out review! My hopes are never high when broadcasting on the internet as i don't employ any references to Pokemon, Dragonball Z, 90s cartoons or Super Mario Bros. :-/ Totally understand any criticisms you've made; it was partly made as a response to people's dreadful reactions to a mosque being built in my city. All the ideas put forth by the bad guys were actually said as recommendations on Facebook to "make the Muslims leave", including all the pig's blood/pork stuff. They also put forth ideas to get rid of "those homos" with other repulsive plans, hence the strained label H.O.M.O. Pretty fucking ridiculous but true. Australia doesn't do well with change.

Once again, thanks very much for your time - it's hugely appreciated.

Nice animation style, concept is all right, but a bit bland in the way it's executed.

Thank you for watching and taking the time to review.

I think this video was a lot better than a lot of stuff on here. I was entertained handy enough and I got some chuckles. It had more than one idea, it had some characters, it wasn't just a bunch of pop references, it wasn't boring, and it didn't over-egg every gag. It skipped from the next bit to the next bit and it wasn't jarring at all, you kind of just went with it. So kudos.

I think it could've been really good if it was just tightened up a bit, some of the jokes were a little mistimed, and one or two of them would've been better if they'd been done in a more throwaway style. The characters could've been a tad more developed. But I look forward to seeing more stuff from you because you have some ideas, a style and a bit of originality.

g31r responds:

First of all; thank you so much, it means a lot to me what you're saying. I, too, feel like a lot of the stuff on NG and YT in general is just a bunch of unoriginal Pokemon-parodies and stuff. And that that is why I try to create completely original animations with original plot and characters. It may not be good, but I am making animations to improve my skills.

I made this one a little over a year ago: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/607331

As you can see, the same idea is behind it: just something completely weird and original. And my style and skills have obviously improved a bunch since Dec. 2012, but I'm still trying to improve.
Anyways, thank you again, have a nice day dude, and hopefully you watch my next animations!

I dunno why this video amused me, but it did.

KingChubbles responds:

Mission accomplished!

I compose music and I write comedy. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more of my stuff up here soon. I love having my work reviewed, and try to be useful in my feedback to others. I hope any feedback is taken in the spirit it's meant.
